- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: RTBPI - injured during a right cervical rib resection on 12/3/2008 for thoracic outlet syndrome. The doctor completely transected the lateral cord at C5-C6 Erb's pointe and the suprascapular nerve. Had a nerve repair done on 12/12/2008 to reattach the nerves. Did two years of OT. I have some issues with overuse issues with my left shoulder and also have come to find that my joints are hypermobile so I have instability in the joints which causes a lot of problems such as pressure and pain.

Medical Review Panel Today
Hi Everyone,
I haven't been on here in a while due to a lot of crazyness going on in my life.
However, today marks multiple important things:
1. The medical review board will be meeting today, July 12th, to review my case of my doctor severing two nerves (suprascapular and C5/C6 at Erbs pt) during a surgery. No matter what the outcome, it will still go to trial, but basedon the reviewpanels comments - this will sway the jury heavily. I ask that if you believe in God, you pray for me as well as the doctors reviewing the case that whatever the right decision is, that they make it. I know it is all in God's hands now.
2. Today also marks exactly 2.5 years since my brachial plexus nerve repair. I still live with chronic nerve pain. With taking topamax for it, it usually is around a 4 daily unless I exercise it more, but without the meds it gets to 7-9 pretty quick. I have much of my movement back, but still cannot reach above my head or reach behind my back. Coming from not being able to move it at all though, I am very grateful for what I have gotten back.
I hope all is well with everyone and I will hopefully be getting on the boards to post more soon!

- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: LOBPI. I am 77 yrs old and never had a name for my injuries until 2004 when I found UBPN at age 66.
My injuries are: LOBPI on upper body and Cerebrael Palsy on the lower left extremities. The only intervention I've had is a tendon transplant from my left leg to my left foot to enable flexing t age 24 in 1962. Before that, my foot would freeze without notice on the side when wearing heels AND I always did wear them at work "to fit in" I also stuttered until around age 18-19...just outgrew it...no therapy for it. Also suffered from very very low self esteem; severe Depression and Anxiety attacks started at menopause. I stuffed emotions and over-compensated in every thing I did to "fit in" and be "invisible". My injuries were Never addressed or talked about until age 66. I am a late bloomer!!!!!
I welcome any and all questions about "My Journey".
There is NO SUCH THING AS A DUMB QUESTION.

- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: May 24, 2008 an 88 year old lady did not see me and pulled out while I was riding my 06 HD Street Glide. The accident resulted in 9 broken bones and brain hemorrhaging. The accident's most serious results was two avulsions confirmed in my C6 & C7 vertebrae. In Oct of 08 Dr. Li of Wake Forest University performed nerve transfer lasting around 8 hours in surgery. I have limited use now of my left arm. It took until July of 09 before it moved at all, and now is moving limited. I experience burning pain in my left hand, staying busy helps keep the mind off of burning. I visited the Mayo Clinic May, 2010 and consulted with their brachial plexus team. May 1, 2012, I underwent a muscle transfer at Wake Forest University. This surgery was deemed a success and I have more movement in my arm.

I am curious where you had your nerve transfer surgery done. We are looking for
a good surgeon/center. Would appreciate feedback.
