Good or bad experience with chiroprators?
Good or bad experience with chiroprators?
Hi,
Our 6 months old son has OBPI. We go to the regular specialist and fysiotherapist. Someone adviced us to go to a chiropractor. We went there this week but I didn't have many confidence in this therapy.
Are there people on this Forum that went for OBPI to a chiropractor? What are the opinions about it?
Like to hear from you.

Re: Good or bad experience with chiroprators?
Harrit,
We took our son Matthew to a chiropractor since he was about 11 months old (now he's 20 months). This treatment helped his overall posture, his torticollis, waiter's tip, and balance. His shoulder was subluxated and after one adjustment he's been fine. Our chiro treats him as a whole not just the bpi, his right knee was also out which she adjusted.
If you didn't have much confidence in this one possibly there is another one you could try.

Harrit - there is good and there is bad - just like any other profession and they all do different work and have different priorities... I personally think it's really important that you go try them out yourself and spend time talking with them and getting to understand their techniques and actually feel for yourself a few times what they do, before you send your baby to one.
There is a good consumer book on the different trainings, techniques, and an involved discussion about subluxation in the book Inside Chiropractic by Dr. Samual Homola ISBN 1-57392-698-1
Also - just like many regular doctors don't understand bpi's and what they can and cannot do because of the bpi - you will find the same problem with chiropractors or anyone in the medical profession - so it's best to be one step ahead and tell them what is acceptable and not acceptible before they put their hands on your child. (this is not meant to insult anyone - but a good example is how regular doctors don't understand that they shouldn't needle an affected arm or do blood pressure with an affected arm)
anyway -good luck with your research if you decide to take another look at it,
