Take note to their theory on causation.... yeah, whatever.....

I was looking at UBPN's Bibliography and was surprised to see what has been published concerning BPI. I looked specifically at the years 2000-2005 and found that the most popular doctors we hear about on here published the least. This was certainly a surprise.
I also wonder who these other doctors are? Who is Al Qattan and where does he practice to be able to publish so much ? I have never heard of a child going to Al Qattan. I haven't been able to find him either.
Here's what the most common doctors did from 2000 to 2005:
Adelson 2
Birch 4
Gilbert 2
Grossman 4
Hentz 1
Kay 1
Kline 2
Kozin 1
Nath 1
Pearl 2
Piatt 2
Price 3
Shenaq 1
Tiel 1
Waters 2
Zager 1

Re: publications
I would have to believe that some of these doctors have published more than what UBPN have listed in the 2000-2005 years.

Re: publications
my take: we have a video & it is clear as day how this injury occurs. hopefully after our lawsuit the whole medical community can see just how this injury does not happen inuretro! the doc pulled while nurse pushed on my stomach! they can publish all the junk medical publications to cover their you know but, when my video is published hopefully there will be no way that this happened in my stomach! as far as our bpi specialists not publishing? who knows my faith is about null as far as that is concerned. it really pisses me off that bpi is so common yet we are in the dark with deciding which treatment & which doc we like better. b/c really that is all we have is which we like better not who is better i have heard bad about every bpi doc out there! awareness would be wonderful but, how is that going to happen when all the publications are about trying to prove that this happens inuretro!

Re: publications
My daughter saw Dr. Kline in New Orleans when she was about a year old. He said there wasn't anything he could do about her nerves and she has globa bpi.

Al Qattan is in Saudi Arabia, so it is unlikely you have met his patients He apparently trained with Clarke in Toronto, and they still publish a lot of papers together.
One redeeming point in the paper cited: at least they acknowledge that the "90% fully recover" statistic is wrong, and state that residual problems exist in "20 to 30%".

Re: publications
The hospital I gave birth at doesn't allow videos of the actual delivery. I never really got why until my son was born. I wish I had a video!! If for no other reason than to understand what happened myself. I swear they all conspire to cover their own ___! Makes me soooooo mad!

Re: publications
And as Al Qattan studied under Clarke, that I have met, then he is a quack and a charlatan as well. Clarke originated that absurb "cookie-test"; if your BPI child cannot bring a cookie to his or hers mouth by three months then surgery is warranted.
In my opinion Dr. Clarke is totally incompetent. In all of the research I have done on behalf of my BPI child, I have never understood how Dr. Clarke has been successful in being published. His medical article regarding the cookie test I read in its entirety and has no basis in the reality of the BPI injured infant.

Actually, Kate, we have family in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and were able to meet with Dr. Al Qattan. After meeting with him, we decided that Dr. Nath was much more qualified.

Re: publications
Another thing I noticed about this article. They call it perinatal brachial plexus palsy (PBPP). No wonder so many are confused about this injury, no one can seem to come to common grounds on what it is actually called.
I personally dont like the word palsy used, it irritates me and makes it sound unavoidable.
Oh and how about the "maternal propulsive forces being the most likely cause of bpi"
That just burns me up!!!!!
Sandmire and DeMott need their heads examined.

Re: publications
They say they are calling it Perinatal instead of obstectric b/c obstectric "caries implications of casuality" In other words....it makes it sound like it's the OBs fault....Imagine that! Sounds like OBPI is an appropriate name after all!
