concerned about pain - please help!!!

Post by terri0320 »

I have not posted in some time, but try to look at website often - more for information than anything.
My daughter is ROBPI and is 4 yrs old. She had a muscle release and tendon transfer surgery in November 2005. She has just started therapy back since then about 4 weeks ago. She seemed to be doing very good and we were pleased with the results of the surgery. We went on Friday 2-24 for a follow-up to cincinnati and saw Dr. Mehlman. He was very pleased as well, but wants her to be able to move her arm 100% (as we all would like). He popped her shoulder while we were there and it really hurt her. He said it was the scar tissue and it would be sore after he done that. It is now Sunday and for the last 2 nights she has cried so hard with the pain that she has cried herself to sleep. During the day she is fine, she complains a little here and there, but never enough to cry about it. Usually a little massage will be fine.
Does anyone have any other suggestions on what to do for pain? I do still have some pain medicine from the surgery, but I don't want her to depend on it.

I think you should call the doctors office and ask him/her. Why did they pop her shoulder? What did that do? What to do with her pain now?
