I was just wondering if anyone has the name and/or contact info of the man at Hopkins who has done research on shoulder dystocia deliveries. I remember reading about him on this board before, but didn't save the message. I am pregnant again, and would like to contact him with some questions.

I think you are talking about Dr. Robert Allen - I believe he is an engineer who has studied the physics of sd, etc.

Is he the Engineer that is doing or did the study on how much traction has to be applied during birth to cause a BPI? If so, and if you have any info on this study I would appreciate it.

Julie - his work was on www.shoulderdystocia.com which has been down for a very long time. I called there and it seems that a virus got to them - but I wonder what's taking so long for them to recover the site...maybe they didn't backup? Maybe you can contact him directly?

Dr. Robert Allen actually used my birth videotape to put together an instructional video for doctors in medical school advising them how to avoid shoulder dystocia. I may be able to answer some questions you may have...he is also a very compassionate man who I enjoyed "working with" in helping him put together his project.

Dr. Robert Allen actually used my birth videotape to develop a videotape for doctors in medical school to use when they are learning how to avoid shoulder dystocia. I found him to be a compassionate, caring man who really wanted to help lower the number of OBPI's. The last email address I have for him is rhallen@home.com.
