Just wondering how many people get Carpal Tunnel in their BP arm?
I understand if we'd get in as an overuse issue, but not as much in our BP arm.

Veggie... i now have it in both arms and as the doctors here are not that interested in Erbs (most dont even know what it is!!) i am usually told "oh it will get better on its own". DUH!!!!
Both my legs are now suffering so badly from overuse now (and im only 31) because a lot of the things i do, my legs take the pressure or the weight i.e. moving things around, i always use my legs as a lot of the time both arms and hands are numb.
The GP i am under at the moment is quite understanding but is insistent that i should have a shoulder replacement, and although i have told him numerous times that this is not possible for me,he still brings it up every time i visit the clinic!!

Julia,
What are the symptoms of the median ulnar nerve, when it gives problems?

Don't know why I can't log in--has been ongoing for months.
I've had 2 carpal tunnel surgeries in the non-erb's had, plus a pronator release , bone spur removal to index finger, spinal cord compression surgery, several herniated disks and have severe osteoarthritis in hands neck, feet, and knees. I believe it's due to the Erb's.
Anyone else? Pat

Julia & Veggiebug,
I had read this post before, but it didn't click. Now today, I am glad for your detailed explanation. I'll have to talk to Jill about this.

Ocassionally she would wear her size small, off the shelf, hand & wrist splint. When she does, she has discomfort of some kind, and when I asked where, she said in the palm of her LOBPI hand. Her forearm is frozen in neutral, and her hand hangs in ulnar deviation. The way her hand hangs, really doesn't look very "pretty" but I was never one to care about that, so "looks" for us has never an issue. I am sure the way it hangs puts a lot of stress on all those parts. If she wore the splint more often I am sure that would help.....but for Jill she feels that draws more attention, so she does not wear it often.

Now I will know it could be Carpal Tunnel, and might need other attention. Thank you.

Somehow I missed this post when it first went up.
I have had carpal tunnel surgery on my bpi hand and wrist.
My hand went numb, totally, and that was pretty scary.

The carpal tunnel is much smaller on that side and the nerves were trapped.

Hi, thanks everyone for the useful information, and I've started wearing a brace at night which helps some but it depends on what I'm doing at work. I did wear it at work too but too many people asked why. I don't like drawing attention either.
But I also try more often to keep my palm flat when not in use. Before it was natural to have it bent or rest it on the back of my hand with it turned up. If that makes sense.

Anyway, thanks again.
