Hi, I was wondering if anyone who has a child with a trust fund has been successful in purchasing a pool for therapy purposes? We are considering doing this, and I am interested to see if anyone else has done it as well. You may email me privately if you wish.

We are interested in doing the same but were told by our attorneys that they will never ever accept that, so we may be taking the home equity loan approach. I can't think of a better way to spend our money.

With our legal case, we ended up asking for some reimbursement for medical bills and a little extra compensation. We had planned if it was approved by the judge that we would use it to help pay for a pool. To our surprise it looks like the judge excepted our request and that we will get a nice additional chunk which we will put towards a pool. We are hoping it all wraps up soon. Anyways, just thought I would share a possible idea for those in currently in litigation, settlement phase, etc.

When I think about the therapy that has done the most good for me long term, it is aqua therapy. I think it is very short sighted of the courts not to allow this

If it is an acceptable expense from health care reimubursement programs with a doctors RX, then why doesn't it count in this situation?

If a letter from an adult long term with this injury would help, I would be glad to write one and I'm sure that there are other adults on this message board who would do the same.

We got a letter of medical necessity from our bpi specialist, a prescription from him, letter from our therapists, and many write-ups about the good results of being in a heated therapy pool including the aquatic therapy paper on UBPN. We also included home modifications to accomodate it. Judge agreed without argument.

Wow. That is great to know! It gives me hope. Maybe our attorneys are wrong. I am going to try your suggestions. Thanks for sharing!

Sorry, one more question....did your pool request have to be for an indoor or enclosed pool? We are trying to figure out how to do this so that she would benefit from the most possible months out of the year. Thanks.
