Just curious what surgeries do Dr. Waters do? Caps>? Acromin? Mod Quad?

This article is quite informative. Don't know that Dr Wates specifically does the surgeries named in your post, but I'm not sure that all centers do the same things or call them the same names. As long as their goal is the best possible functional outcome, they can call it what they like!

Dr Waters team is part of the international collaborative study in treatment of kids with bpi. This means they can check their long term results against others to come up with the best strategy. Dr Kozin at Shriners PA is also part of this large study.

Last I heard Waters does muscle transfers and releases. I know he recently started doing the anterior capsule release. He does not do the caps or acromion surgery based on his opinions at this time. Waters does other surgeries for bpi as well.

Where can I find a list of the doctors participating in the collaborative study mentioned in this article?

My daughter had an osteotomy performed by Dr. Waters in Sept. 2003. She was 9 years old and prior to surgery had internal shoulder rotation, and pronation. She couldn't bring her hand to her face, couldn't palm-up, elbow stuck out and couldn't bring her hand away and outward from her belly. Now she is doing great. Aside from a bit of asymmetry in her shoulders, and a bit of pectoral tightness, this surgery has done a world of good. Much better range of motion. Very little pronation, the palm is better,though not perfect, and she looks and feels more normal. We are forever grateful for having dealt with Dr. Waters. PS. He's a real nice guy, too!
