My Dauthter is 10 years old. She had the Latimus Dorsi transfer at age 5. She was doing great until this past few months. Now she as lost about 2 inches in reach, she complains more with therapy. We are still doing therapy EVERY DAY..
Haley has erbs palsy in her C-5, C-6. (If this helps)

Is this common,due to growth?

If you have any advise let me know.
Thanks,
Kimmie

Hello there, I am 32 and my arm was shrinking and paraylyzing itself the older I got. I just had the mod quad surgery and I have regained 2 inches in length. I am sure that it does atrophy as you grow however with stretching and therapy you would think it wouldn't as fast. I would check back with the doctor who did the surgery on your daughter and see what they think. I am suprised to learn that it can atrophy that quickly after the Latimus Dorsi transfer. I know this doesn't help you out very much, however, I am curious to find out as well. Are we all still in for more atrophying even though we had surgery and are doing therapy. Please keep us posted on what you find out. Thank You

Kimmie - it's possible that her shoulder is subluxed or dislocated and that's why there was a recent change in range.

We saw a new doctor today and xrays were taken. The doctor said everything looks fine on the xray. But also said Haley's shoulder is really tight and her abductor and forward flection is very weak. She wants to try to strengthen with OT and recheck in 4 weeks.
Possible surgery to loosen tight muscles.

please take this as only my opinion.
it worked for me.but its something that doctors are not so happy about.
mt physical theropist has this tabe that streches the spin.well it hirts like a bugger.but it helps keep the pain down.he does this and mind you i am the only one that he does this for.everyday.for upper spine and lower spine.my lower spin also.L5 L6
IT MAY SOUND STRANGE,BUT the pain does go away during the streching of the spin.i have been doing it for over 3 yrs now.it helps me sleep .it helps me move better in the day.other then this.i have tried everything.plus the help of pain pills and anti inflamitories.
i wish you luck hun.
