Has anyone applied for SSI for their infants with Erb's or BPI ? And if so did they get it?
How bad does a child need to be to get this, doesn't make sense that we were denied but we plan to appeal it.
I would like to hear back from anyone who has dealt with this or knows what to do. Thanks so much :)

we applied and got it on appeal. it took about a year to do though, you really have to look at the requirements for childhood disability carefully and find evidence to support thr requirements. i did that with published articles from tch which stress the complexities of the injury along with a huge pile of medical records. if you apply to early it may be a disadvantage because infants cant necessarily preform any of the tasks in the requirements like feeding oneself, dressing etc. good luck

We applied for Matthew but were denied because of our income.

We applied and got it for Ben, I just made sure I list EVERYONE who'd ever seen him in any form. They did turn him down when it was renewal time, and I filed for an appeal, but they approved him without us having to go thru the appeal. Ben's injury is moderately severe. He's had 3 surgeries so far.

Depending on your households income, your child could recieve a monthly check for being disabiled. You can apply at your local social security office.
