My son Robert just turned 3 months. He still has not had return of elbow flexion. We are looking at surgery. We are being referred to Mayo in Rochester, MN to a Dr. Allen Bishop. I have not heard good things about this doctor. Idon't believe they specialize in Erb's Palsy. Looking for help to find the best for our son. Willing to travel anywhere. We are from WI.

Hi - there is a Medical Resources Listing on the home page here. Don't forget to read the questionaires that the docs had to fill out.
We took Maia to Texas Children's Hospital and think that they are really great. You can check on their website
http://www.texaschildrenshospital.org (patient care center - brachial plexus). Dr. Nath also has his own site now
http://www.brachialplexusinjury.net. I also journalized our entire experience since Maia had her first surgery there -
http://www.injurednewborn.com/maia/homepage.html.
Good luck in finding a doctor. I know that it's really hard to trust again especially since a doctor injured your baby in the first place.
Wishing your little one the best,
francine

Dear Tiffany,
I was going to post earlier but I knew I couldn't give you the info as well as Francine. I will tell you that I just got back from Texas and they are wonderful. They have a clinic that specializes in this injury. I have been there 2 times and had really good experiences both times. The doctors there are really helpful and they do exceptional jobs.

Try Gillette Childrens in St. Paul minnesota. DR. Ann Van Heest is the lead BP doctor. Dr. Partington is the surgeon and Dr. Tanaguchi does EMG's. These are the 3 doctor's who work togeher on this. My son is 8 months and just had surgery 4 weeks ago there. Feel free to e-mail me at.
chadster@peoplepc.com. I look forward to sharing info with you.

We traveled more than halfway across the country for my son to have surgery at Texas Children's Hospital with Dr. Nath. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, I would rate everything about that experience as a 10++++. I wish you the best in making your decision.

You may also want to check out Dr. Scott Kozin at Shriners Hospital in Philadelphia. He is wonderful and very caring and compassionate. We just got back from an eval with him and absolutely love him.
He is listed in the medical directory on the ubpn website.
Their website is
http://www.shrinershq.org/shc/philadelp ... staff.html
Good luck with your decision. Check out the website information and the questionaire....
also, if anyone has any info on the Mayo clinic deal in Rochester, please post, I did call them once a while ago but did not get a return call and did not follow up.
Love,
Tami

We also had a very positive experience with Waters. He has been actively involved in research to better treatment for our children and he is very experienced with bpi's. Nice man as well.
