Hi folks
I am a 48y/o male lobp injury quite severe. I have a deep burning pain in the arm as long as I can remember and have not found a pain killer that will help so I have lived with it.

My big problem is when I am running a fever it goes into overdrive, big time, sleep is out of the question.
I have tryed most pain killers (demerol, tylenol #3,and the good doc has even tried dialodid to no avail

Does anyone else have this problem and if so what do you take for it

Thanks

Hi

That deep burnig pain... have you had mri...emg... xray?

I go for myofacial release and pt and I just had x-ray and the deep burning pain in my good arm is not only from over use and compensation but I have neck damage now....

I am taking relafin now 750mg twice a day and it helps some. I had pain in my right bpi arm and the left one a few years ago and the combination of PT and massage and myofacial release really helped. I took vioxx for only a few days and it worked perfectly but I had an allergic reaction...

Judy T are you reading... she has a pain patch she uses....

Sleep is something else... I have always been the world's worst sleeper... even when I am so tired I can't see... LOL...

Many of the parents noticed that when a child has a fever their arm is impossible... I think that is because it is our weak spot and it hurts more...

One more suggestion... When my arms are really so annoying I can't focus and work past the pain... I put on mineral ice... I think it just distracts but it helps... I also make sure my right arm is warmer at night then the unaffected one... sometimes I think that wakes me up all night...

I hope this helps- Welcome to the boards...
Kath

My son has had pain in a major way lately their are some non medication alternatives we are researching, but initially the nuerologist put Mike on Nuerontin and that has made a huge difference for him, Have you tryed a pain management team, probably a dumb question... but who knows.

I hope you find some relief soon

There is a very long post on Neurontin on the TBPI/board...

It is an old post but has many opinions on this drug.

http://ubpn.org/messageboard/thread ... hread=1531

I refused to take it because I found most pain managers want to give us a pill but some of the side effects are scary... but that's just me...

Sunflowers read this post I don't know how old your son is but I hope you can find something more natural for Mike... once this round of pain subsides...
Growth spurts and any sort of flu or fevers seem to cause us more pain... I hope Mike is feeling well soon.

Thanks Folks
Sory I forgot to sign, gettinga little forgetful.
I have an app. with my neuroligist in May and will ask him about neurontin or some other med that may be good for nerve pain
It seems that as I get older the pain gets worse and since I live in Nova Scotia, Canada I have to travel to Ontario to see a OB speacilist.
Again Thanks
Mervin

I just went through this and it lasted 4 LONG days

I only happens with I'm getting sick but when it happens I can't do anything. Nothing has helped me. It only happens about once every other month but when it does it is truly debilitating.

I truly hope you find releig but I have suffered through this for 35 years
