Does anyone know of any type of procedure to straighten the ring finger and little finger of a hand that is no longer working. What I am trying to do is be able to put a glove on the hand in able to perform normal winter tasks of shoveling snow and being outside in the cold. When I put on a glove, I have to try to straighten out the finger to get the finger part up on those fingers. I tried mittens, but find it awkward to me.

I like mitten on that hand only, Same thing in finger issue, Drove semi in Chicago winters with birth erbs  . Remember have a regular glove for good hand ;)
Just a little , trick I use
I found that if you can get a small rubber ball and just Try to first hold it and then try to squeeze it to gain grasp and it fells good when hand cramps up it Help to stretch the fingers out ;) Doing this help me to get grasp in 4 fingers overtime to holed a semi steering wheel between shift of a ten speed semi, OUCH you bet in erbs arm and hand end of a day  All I can say is finding tricks happen to us, all types of post like this :D . It work for me and Hopefully may help you-2   ,
Oh , small hand warmer in mitten , helps keep that hand warm to ;)

Tom, I wish it was that easy to try to regain the use of the hand. The trouble is that the nerves that were regenerating from up in my rotator cuff area to the hand never got there in time before the arm and hand atrophied away. All this was caused by my brachial artery, ulnar and median nerves in a bundle being shut off by figure 8 sutures during rotator cuff surgery and then forgotten to be undone. They were like that for 4 months until found by doctors in the Cleveland clinic. Now my hand and arm have almost no muscle and the bones are very visible. Little finger and ring finger are clawed.

If physical therapy is ruled out, you may want to think about tendon release and/or fusion. All of my fingers were clawed with atrophy up until last November. Drs. Bishop and Shin at the Mayo Clinic did the tendon release on four fingers and fusion on the thumb knuckle closest to the nail. Like you, my hand did not work either. After the procedure I am now able to move them ever so slightly. You may want to check out a local hand surgeon specialist. I went to Mayo because they did the last two surgeries on the elbow and shoulder plus they were doing additional wrist and bone fusions. Good luck.

I am a caveman with birth erbs,
no help ever for my arm
When I read your post and so many others describing surgeries and treatment out there ,that it leaves me in  They really can do that
I really dont know what all these things are But I am glad they are there out there to find for you guys, ;) :D But the Quest to find a doctor in time
I wish some doctor would of told me about , Things you find out there today , never ever happen   To me a greater tragedy to is happen when a person with these types of injury thinks about amputation because of lack of direction by a doctor to refer to a doctor that REALLY can help?? ITS Twisted  :twisted
What is Great-!! is when you guys post what out there for treatment and surgeries of today ;)
IF you can just find that doctor , near You or one that can Really give more usage ??????
Finding the right direction does happen by post to ;) :D
That claw hand and use of four figures is what I have today, I gain grasp overtime squeezing a small rubber ball , Today there treatment and surgery by posts, That so great-!! :D
I can tell you that if you can get grasp by surgery or treatment , Do it.
When you can , You can go far in adapting even if grasp is all you can get back.
Possible direction do happen by post , it more than hope, ;) :D Its never easy  or what your left with,
Just Thinking,
