This is a very interesting article. I know we are not allowed to videotape at most hospitals here. My husband was told to turn off his camera during the both of both of my children, at 2 different hospitals. I applaud this mom's fight.

You gotta love this quote from the article:

"Dr. Elliott Main, chairman of obstetrics and gynecology at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco, which also allows filming of births, said, “The modern approach is not to ban cameras but to do drills and practice. Where you get into trouble is where people panic or don’t know what to do next and have blank looks on their faces,” he said. Videotaping simulated births, he said, can help the medical staff adjust their behavior."

So they practice "looking" like they know what they are doing, in case something goes wrong and it's captured on camera?! How about just knowing WHAT to do... and doing it?

When I went to the hospital to give birth to my daughter they told me I wasn't allowed to tape it OR take pictures. My video camera was on the table and my sister actually turned it on and it was angled PERFECTLY!! You could see the whole birth...I am so thankful she did that too because of what happened.
