Am so proud of my baby girl and had to share! As always Aubree continues to amaze me with what she's able to accomplish despite her injury!

We are in the process of potty training, and I've always wondered how she would do with pulling up and down her pants. I never doubted her ability to do it, just wondered how challenging it would be for her. I am happy to say that we've been potty training for less than a week and she is now able (using both arms) to push her pants down. We are still working on pulling them up, she's only able to get them part way, but one step at a time right?!? She has limited hand function (keeps her fingers partially clenched, has little grasp, and is able to open her index finger) so pulling them up is proving to be a little more difficult.

Our kids are truly amazing!!

Congrats on the potty training! I just LOVED giving up diapers.

Juliana can't pull down or pull up her pants two handed. She always done it one handed. If she is with other people (like she is wearing a bathing suit under her clothes) she puts her left (affected) hand on her pants, but it doesn't do anything. She pulls up one side, then pulls up the other side (crossing over her body). She is very quick at it and so no one notices. I even thought for a while that she used two hands, because she was so quick. They also wiggle!

Happily, yoga-style pants are still in vogue. They are much easier than jeans. However, now that she is in middle school, she wants to wear jeans. So, some days are jeans days. It takes contortions to button them, but she gets it done. She will only wear the jeans if her arm/hand feel well enough to battle with them. (or if they match the shirt she wants to wear...) Otherwise she wears the yoga pants and no one is the wiser.

Our bpi kids are incredible problem solvers.

Have fun,
claudia
