Has anyone had any success with any surgery or anything done for an elbow contracture.

Maggies dr says there is nothing that can be done, he says he has tried surgery before and it doesnt work so he will never do it again.

i think botox with serial casting has the best results. it is slow, but i've heard that it is at least somewhat successful. DO NOT DO SURGERY! it doesn't work.

plus, botox plus casting can be done again in the future if the contracture comes back. but, after the casting is done, you have to do a lot of therapy to strengthen the surrounding muscles.

I have a problem with my "unaffected" elbow forming contractures. My robpi arm is 3-1/2" shorter, as a result my left arm is more restricted trying to keep in line with the right arm.

I was have quite a bit of pain in my left arm due to the contractures and had ART therapy on it. It worked great but required lots of session and a PT to do it.

I went to my chiropractor and told him about them forming again and he used Laser treatments. Simple non painful and short. I was sure they were not going to work but I did it 3x a week for a few weeks and they worked. I don't know if this can be used on children but it was great for me.

Here is a link to some information I found on the Internet. It is a small machine used for a few seconds on the inside of my arm moving it 4/5 times and max 20 seconds at each spot on the contracture.

FDA approved for pain relief.

I hope this information helps because the use of this type of treatment really helped me with my unaffected arm and the tight contractures that were forming from years of restricting movement.
