Humeral osteotomy to correct external rotation

Has anyone had, or been recommended the humeral osteotomy to correct being overly externally rotated? Our son is lacking internal rotation - the opposite of most BPI kids. We think this may have happened as a result of his mod quad surgery. He is overly supinated. It has been recommended to us by Dr. Kozin that the humeral osteotomy might benefit him. Just wondered if anyone else has had this surgery to correct external rotation, and if so, how it went? I see a lot of posts about internal rotation.

We have had such different recommendations from 3 different doctors now, that we are confused. Dr. Nath recommended forearm osteotomy and wrist tendon transfers. Dr. Davinos said the forearm osteotomy would not really benefit our son. Dr. Kozin didn't mention the forearm osteotomy, but instead, the humeral osteotomy.

Thank you in advance for any information!

Hi there, just wondering if you had the osteotomy performed and if it helped with the external rotation? We have a 6 yr old daughter for whom we are considering the surgery, we are concerned it will overcorrect and become internally rotated, or that she will lose functioning for some activities that she currently performs well (e.g. holding cup/objects). Thanks.

I have not been on the boards in a long time, but came on line to ask about osteotomy. This has been recommended for my 12 year old daughter ton increase external rotation. I'd appreciate hearing from those of you who have seen the results. Thanks. Corinne in NH
