Kaite is scheduled to have this done with Dr. Cornwall in Mid February. Anyone else going to be there and have anyone else had this done there?

Any tips on the casting, what is the therapy like afterwards.

What changes did you see, etc.

Normally don't deal with this facility of late but really really like this particular dcotor.

thanks

I researched this surgery for Maia and found that every doctor I talked to did it differently. Some casted, some bandaged, some splinted and the timing was different and therapy protocols as well. So I think it's best if you call his office - his staff will probably be able to answer your questions and they may even have a sheet written up about it that they can email you.

Best of luck with the surgery.

Oh no, I know the protocol for them, we just havent done an actual cast before and I was hoping on tips for bathing, all that good stuff. Been a loooooooooong time! And we aren't dealing with a baby any longer but a wild pre tween that thinks she is a whirl wind in my house....

if you go to a medical supply catalog or an adaptive catalog you will be able to search for products that allow people to shower or even swim. They're pretty good. We got two because we didn't know which one would work or not.... maia was able to swim with it.

I am not sure what forearm osteotomy is but I do know that Dr.Cornwall was my daughter,Amarie's, surgeon for her 3 nerve transfers! He is AMAZING and we were sad to see him leave philadelphia childrens hospital.
