My grandson was born 11/08/08 weighed also 11 lbs. 9oz. He got stuck in the birth canal and now has Erbs palsy left arm he is now 2 1/2 month old and his arm has no feeling or movement at all. We call it his lucky fin like Elmo. Since his birth I have learned so much about this condition. I know that if there is no improvement by 3 to 6 months the outcome doesn't look good. I know that surgery will help. Everything I've read has been that people with this condition gets some use in there arm. Does anyone know if there is a possibility that his arm will never get any movement or felling like it is now? If so please let me know your story.

Very worried
Grandmother

It is extremely critical in the following months that you go and talk to a pediatric neurologist/neurosurgeon because there IS a chance that if something is not done within this window of time before he is 6 months old he could never gain movement. I am not trying to scare you but it is extremely important because a nerve grafting surgery could be the difference between some function and none. I had this surgery at four months old and it was predicted that if I had not had it done I would have zero use of my arm and now I have some ROM and great finger movement. I'm so sorry about your grandson. I will pray for him.

Thank you all for your help. I truly believe God led me to this site. I would like to take a moment and send a special thanks to Francine Litz. She has directed me and my family in the right direction. I didn't realize until now that people really due care. My grandson is going to see Dr. Kozin. Hopefully soon, they have seen the Video and agree that he needs help now not later. I feel like there is some hope for my grandson. Thank you all. I will keep you updated on his progress.

Even though you have a very long road ahead of you I must tell you that they are the most special little people in this world! I'm so happy you've found your way so quickly! Unfortunately I'm in the same boat as Torie! (Torie- if you don't mind I have some questions?? Can you email me so we can talk?) My baby boy is 3 1/2 and we didn't find out about anyone until recently. He didn't have any movement in his arm until he was just past 3 months old. Then we just continued therapy till now. I feel very lucky to have found all of you! It's truly a blessing! If you need anything at all please feel free to email me @ athanyobpi@yahoo.com. Many prayers your friend in Florida Daisy.

My grandson Ryan was born July 19, 2008. He was pulled at birth causing his condition. He has theraphy twice a week. We are now in the process fighting BCBS so he can have surgery. We have seen Dr. Nath at two of his outreach meetings in Orlando and would love to go to him but insurance is giving us a fit because of out of network. We are appealing but nothing seems to be for us yet. His ped wants us to go to Miami to Dr. Grossman but i hear his specialty is nerve but Ryan as far as we know only needs muscle and bone(mod quad and triangle tilt) Good recommendations have come to us for Dr. Nath. Do you know of him?? Cocoa Granny

Ryan's granny:
Have you gone to have a consult with Dr. Grossman? He is a very, very accomplished surgeon and bpi specialist. Plus, he works with Dr. Andy Price who is an orthopedist. We go see Dr. Price for our daughter, because his homebase is NY. Dr. Price is a great surgeon and a fabulous guy.

Second and third opinions are a must in the bpi world.

good luck,
claudia
