Hello to all....
I haven't posted for awhile as Glynn has been having some healing issues, but thought you all might want to know the results of his tendon transfers performed back in Aug 2008.
Glynn was 2 years out from his accident and had already done the nerve transfers/grafts offered by the BP team at Mayo (MN).
His tendon/muscle transfers were done at Mayo Aug 28th. He then developed Staph (due to a dead muscle - SURPRISE) and had a debridement Sept 24th. On Oct 23rd he came out of the brace.
He had 0 abduction 0 flexion and 0 external rotation before the tendon/muscle transfers. Fresh out of the brace (no PT/OT and stiff elbow) he was able to externally rotate to neutral (YAY!!!) and abduct to about 30 degrees (DOUBLE YAY). Flexion isn't great, but it's there..... expect will get better over time.
We are going back for another follow up and to begin OT/PT Dec 3rd. Will anyone be there? Would love to have coffee or similar!

To all of you hoping for a miracle..... this surgery was ours.

God Bless and Happy Holidays!

Alecia and Glynn Simms
