is it the humeral or the forearm osteotomy? My son has had both. He is almost 11.

My son had a forearm osteotomy when he was seven. It was the easiest and least painful of all his surgeries. The only time he complained of discomfort was in the recovery room and after four months the pin started poking him in the wrist. The surgery sounds much a lot worse than it actually is.

the osteotomy wasn't very painful for my son, the cast was just like any broken arm cast. He did OT after cast came off for rehab, arm was just weak after, had to build back up. He did have some improvement in arm position, although not as good as was expected.(Broke wrist 1 week after cast came off, so don't know if that affected things.) Had forearm the next year...now getting ready to schedule Triangle Tilt. The shoulder is the problem for him, still.

Is your child supinated or pronated? Ours is pronated.

the osteotomies are by the easiest he has had. c5-ruptured, c6-ruptured, c7-avulsed and c8 stretched. feel free to email me privately and I will give more opinion on the osteotomies. Dr Davino did them, he is a wonderful doctor.
