My son is 3 years old and about 10 weeks ago had a Lat Dorsi Transfer for upward / outward flexion. Can anybody tell me the type of exercises their OT had their children doing after this procedure. Also, my son has little movement to his fingers since birth would anybody have experienced their child's finger flexion being recovered after the Lat Doris Transfer procedure??

Your surgeon should probably be the one to provide you with your post surgery therapy instructions. I'd ask there first because there may be something specific about your son's surgery or anatomy that might change the way therapy is done? Also, doctors do their procedures differently.

Good luck - hope your son gets great results!

No one not even the doctors know for sure what will come back Frankie had the mod quad and right out of surgery he had gained some finger movement no one knew why but we were thrilled on the other hand he wasn't able to raise his arm over his head like we had hoped either. Also like Francine said check with the doctor about therapy they usually give you a script for what they want the therapist to do for the 1st few months. Good luck Mare

If your little guy likes water, I reccommend pool therapy. Ask the doc what the protocal is and then find a good therapist.
Good luck!

For finger movement fun, try a big container full of rice, beans, jello or pudding. the messyer the better. After Taylor's tendon transfer she did not want to move anything.i was worried we lost what we had but finaly after about 3 or 4 days she came around with a bucket of rice. i will never forget that day! best wishes, mom of 4yr old olbpi
