I got a little traveling money scraped up. I've had a helluva time in GA and FL findind anybody who'll prescribe for example 80 or 100mgs methadone daily so I can have a g-d'ed life.Does ANYBODY know where the h in the U.S. I can live and get effective pain management?????
50mgs ultram and 20 mgs methadone--when and if I'm allowed to have it--it's a damned bad joke. Be easier to score heroin--haven't gone THAT far yet, but dammit man!!!!--are Doctors just stupid in general or what?

It takes time to establish a relationship with a doctor. They need to be able to trust you are using the drugs for the right thing.

There have been too many cases where people become addicted and then everyone points their finger at the doctor. "Why would he prescribe that. If he had not then I would not be addicted!" You know stuff like that. Can't blame a doctor for being cautious.

I don't know about the methadone but I live in Florida and have no problem getting the Ultram. But, I have also been with the same doctor for 10 years.

As for what Joy said i vehemently disagree. I have had crohns since i was 14 and now have a TBPI and the docs prescribed the same levels of pain meds i have been using for years. First i am a chem engineer so i know a thing or two. My tolerance levels are way up and i process things differently but no doc will see it that way, partially because i am tattooed. i have had pharmacist call cops on me for a valid script because i have a sleeve and a bad attitude ( which i think i deserve after being hit by truck)

Part of the problem Ronin is the WAR on DRUGS. the republicans have gone after docs and us as well to try and make people scared of drugs that if used correctly could still give me a normal useful life.

Not quite sure how one can "vehemently disagree" with another's personal experience, but okay. Nor do I see the relevance to your career (chemical engineer). I am a housewife and I also know a thing or two. Wanna compare recipes? :p

The story you tell about the pharmacist is a crying shame. You should not have been treated that way. Your sleeve should not have played a part in getting your medication. Your appearance should not be a factor to get service from a doctor or pharmacy. I am sorry that happened to you.

I guess I have been fortunate with my doctors. He is normally very willing to "experiment" with different levels of medication. In reality it is normally me that takes the lower dose. I prefer to see if the lower dose will work first. But, like I said before I have been with this doctor for ... wow, 11 years! I just recently changed local pharmacies. So far I have not had any problems. I get most of my medication through a mail in service. It eliminates the need for personal contact or judgment!

I suppose this is a perfect example of why we need a doctor that truly knows about this injury. That way they are aware of the level of pain we are in. It would make things much easier.

On another note... may I ask what your sleeve is? We have a very dear friend of my son that is a tattoo artist. I find the art work fascinating.
