Lawrence,
Not sure what you mean by your post but what I got from it is that you think we are here to complain about pain. And thats totally false! WE share and ask questions to get support for what we are going through. Some people are fortunate enough to never experience pain but then there are those of us who are not that fortunate. Myself being one of the less fortunate. It sucks to be in pain and so we are here to ask how every one else deals with pain. Personally at 20 years old I really dont want to be on prescription pain killers!

New things pop up all the time so we are all here to help each other through these new things!

Some topics are also emotional topics as people(maimly those that are older) were treated much differently than our age group. We are fortunate enought to have advancing medical technology on our side so our parents actually have a name for this injury. Many of the olders members of the boards did not have the luxury they were told they had a rare birth defect.
I am sure all of us were teased at on time or another some more than others and each of us handle that differently!
It is awesome that you appear to be at a point in your life that you are ok with every thing that you have been through but many are not.

If you really want to get to know "us" I would try to be a little more respectful in your posts! They seem kinda rude when reading them, that being the downside of the internet you cant hear or see the person that has posted so you have no way of knowing the intent of the post. So I sppologize if I took your post all wrong but thats how it reads for me!

Lawrence,

Please respect this forum and those in it. If you must post messages after drinking, do so on a message board not designed as a support system. As Amy so politely said, the UBPN board is here for people affected by brachial plexus injuries to support and learn from one another. I would truly hate to see people dealing with this injury leave this board, or hesitate to really talk about the things they are dealing with for fear of being called a complainer. The pain, both physical and emotional, caused by a brachial plexus injury is very real and this is exactly the right place to talk about it.

Dear PhillyKing,
It IS dangerous to treat our OBPI Pains,Emotional AND Physical with alcohol since Pain is something that is a LIFETIME CARE ISSUE. Yes, as you age, depending upon how you take care and do not overcompenate, pain is something that changes slightlybut is always there/here with us BPI-ers.

Take care of yourself while you are young & it may not be as bad, later.

If you post while you're drunk or you write things that put people on the defensive, you represent yourself as someone who isn't understanding or sympathetic to others with problems and questions. It doesn't endear you to the community and it can be offensive. Everything doesn't need to be so serious, but parents come here for help when their babies are injured, and people with injuries come here for help and support that we can't get elsewhere. This is a special place because of that. Please respect it.
