Hi

You can go to your nearest Social Security Office and get forms.

You need documentation on the extent of the injury...
Most offices and workers have also never heard of OBPI so you need to take the Awareness material with you from this web site...
Resource materials http://ubpn.org/awareness/index.html
They need to know that repair to our arms never seem to restore us to 100% use... I don't think people understand that...

There is SSI and SSD.... one is based on family income and I think the other is not... Not sure on that one.. but I do think you can apply...
Some of the parents on the General Board have been approved...
Social Security Dept....http://www.ssa.gov/

There is a book called the Blue Book.... it lists the impairments necessary to qualify...
Blue Book... http://www.ssa.gov/disability/professio ... ntents.htm

List of Impairments... Childhood..

I hope this information will help

There is a quick questionaire that you can fill out (anonymously) on the ssa.gov website. You answer a bunch of questions, and it comes back with a list of benefits and explanations. It's supposed to give you an idea of what benefits are available to you and your child. I don't know how accurate it is for BPIs, but it might be worth a try.
