Hi all. I have noticed reading all the messages left on here that no one mentions how big their babies were who has bpi. Mine weight 12lbs and the ultrasound was only estimating her at 10lbs on the morning we delievered. And can anyone tell me if there is a statue of limitations on a law suit for this injury in the state of Florida?
Thanks,
Jana

Hi, Jana, I can't help you on Florida statute of limitations, I live in IL. My son blake is 4yrs old and weighed 11lb 8oz and was 22 1/2in.

My daughter was 8lbs 12oz full term. The day before I delivered her I was told the ultrasound showed that she would be six maybe seven pounds. My son's injury was supposed to be avoided by inducing early - An ultrasound was taken a couple of days before I was induced two weeks early and he was to be no larger than 8lbs. He was born weighing 10lbs 6oz. Many states allow for the child to be 20 years of age before the limitations run out. Call an attorney in your area, they'll have the most accurate information for you.

Hi Jana,
Even if she was "supposed" to weigh 10lbs that still would have been too big to deliver natural, don't you think? My son weighed 10lbs 8 1/2 oz 2 weeks early.

Hi - I'm Anita - my daughters were as follows:

Darian (who is almost 9 now) was 8lb 13oz/19 1/2 in. at 42 weeks.

Cassidy (who is almost 3) was 9lb 2oz/21 1/2 in. at 37 weeks. Estimated at 8lbs on ultrasound - let's see - about 8 hours before her birth!

Oops - guess they were off just a little!

ultrasounds are plus or minus 2 lbs.

Matthew's estimated weight was 7lbs 9oz. The +/- was no larger than 8lbs. The one flaw that ultrasounds have is that they can't measure the fat on the baby.

I had:
1. 8lb 6 oz Normal birth(pushed forever!!)
2. 9lb 4 oz Broken collor bone(no BPI, very fast birth, great doctor)
3. 9lb. 8 1/2 oz BPI after the sono showed 3 days earlier that his chest was 2 cm. bigger than his head...We asked repeatedly if he could get stuck and were told no.
4. 9lb 4 oz planned c-section(chest and head were the exact same measurements of # 3.

I'm just wondering why you went to the same doctor when you were pregnant with your second child? Weren't you terrified him injuring a child of yours again?
