my baby has a ROBPI will be 8 months after one week he still can't sit without support should i worry about this?how can i improve this?

I'm not sure what the exact perimeters are. There are norms for milestones and then there are ages at which drs start to worry. I would ask your dr if your concerned. My son is almost 8 months old and has been sitting without support since about 6 1/2 months. I think around 6 months is the norm-but that doesn't mean that you should worry! Ask your pediatrician!!

Oh I forgot...most babies will eventually topple over even though they can sit w/o support. Can he sit for any period of time?

Does your baby get plenty of time on his tummy? Seems that with all the concern about SIDs and having babies on their back so much of the time they are not getting enough time on the tummy when they are awake. Encouraging him to play on his tummy will help strengthen his back and trunk muscles. Just a thought, I think our fourth was a little slower too.

he hates tummy time so much i'm trying with him but not more than 5 mints and he is start crying my be his hand pain

It seems from past posts on this board that many of our children with BPI did not "like" tummy time too much. Eventually children will like it better. Give it some more time. Try distracting your child during tummy time. What about putting them on a plastic tablecloth on the floor with some applesauce on it so he can run his hands through it and taste it? I'd say that would be distracting and tasty. Think out of the box.

My child was also very much delayed in sitting up. So much so that I explored things that would help her. I discovered the large dough-nut shaped pillow. I bought it, my child resisted it, and suddenly she was sitting upright on her own.

My BPI daughter was delayed in every conceivable physical milestone: You have to be patient! Your child's time will come, I promise you. I expereinced all of that concern, and my child almost seven is a truly awesome kid. Despite her injury she is excelling in school, she is excellent in ballet, she was in karate this summer, she is amazing in soccer, she is a beatiful painter, and she reads at a sixth grade level.

BPI means NOTHING to the potential and possibilities of a child. But it may mean someting to the possibilities and potential of parents because they feel that suddenly they are inadequate becuase their child was injured. Parents YOU ARE NOT. Find the best medical resources for your child, keep your child active, but generally persist in challenging your child...

Your child is very young, and as your child matures that BPI will not be your greatest concern. You need to keep this injury in perspective: Your child and your birthing mother survived...
