Hey guys... thanks for all the well wishes! The appointment went as I expected... they suggested the gracilils transfer... I need to processeverything and really decide what it is that I want to do... I will tell you that I do not like the idea of having pubic hair on my arm, but I guess after a year I can have it removed! haha They are ready for me when I am ready... SCARY! I have checked out a few different places and still have to decied where to go to... ughhh! I htink I know what I am going to do but Im not jumping the gun, I did that with my first two ops... thanks for checking on me...

Hey girl - glad the visit went so well!
Regarding that skin flap, they just use it the first couple days to monitor the muscle transfer / blood flow & make sure they know where the dopplar needs to be placed to check it all out. We had a plastic surgeon remove it from John's shoulder after that... I agree, it can be pretty funky looking!
Let us know what you decide. The good thing about a gracilis transfer is that you don't have to feel so rushed to make a decision.
Take care,
Ellen

Courtney,
If you go for the muscle transfer with the bonus skin flap feature and choose to have it removed and you want to keep it in the end... you have to tell them it is against your religion to discard it and then they must save it for you! I had mine removed during a tune up/tweeking surgery a few weeks ago and literally begged them to keep mine (I wanted to make a coin purse or eye patch or anything fun and stupid with it, as it would be the first fun thing this injury has brought my way... but plenty stupid!) but they tossed it in the trash instead! My own flesh and blood, I guess it's gross to some, but I miss every part I lose. I guess they want to bury the dead and not send them to the taxidermist, oh well... guess I should finally put grandma and grandpa in their pine boxes six feet under.
