Anyone else feel like they missed out

I am not one of those women who think childbirth is the end-all be-all, but I do feel like I missed out on the experience. Both of my kids ended up being rushed to the NICU immediately after birth (1 BPI and 1 heart problem). SO I missed the excitement of being a new mom and friends/family coming to visit in the hospital etc. I find myself considering having a 3rd so that maybe I can have a "normal" delivery experience but I fear if something happened again I could not handle it. ANyone else feel this way?

I have the same feelings sometimes though neither of my twins have a bpi. They were premature and had other health issues. I didn't even get to see them for over 24 hours, I wasn't there the first time my dh or anyone else got to see or hold them. I felt so gyped since even my IL's got to see them before I did. I've also thought about wanting other children in hopes of a "normal" delivery. You aren't alone.

Yes, I feel the same way, but with four kids I don't think that will be happening. 3 of my four were sent to NICU before I got to see them. Brandon my child with OBPI I didn't get to see until he was 48 hours old....they wouldn't let me leave my room. Finally my husband took me to see him......without Dr.'s permission. I haven't stopped hugging or kissing him since !!!!!! Gayle mom of Brandon 7 1/2 ROBPI

Yeah-Chloe was my first child and I really did have a very clear vision of what child birth would be and how it would be afterwards. Some would say visions of sugar plums and fairytales. Man oh Man was I a sad sad girl. I dont want to say disappointed because I could never be disapointed in my sweet baby. But I was sad that things her so difficult for her coming into the world. I sat in the hospital because they would not let her go home. I had to call my family who were waiting for us at our home and tell them to pack up the party. I think I cried for days. That sadness changed me forever. I cherish the first day she was alive-i didn't know-they told me that it was a broken collarbone and would heal quickly. I had no idea what this would be.

Guest,
I think that your whole life growing up you picture what having a baby is SUPPOSED to be like, but in actuality - things don't turn out that way- life isn't always the way it is portraid (gees I wish there was a spell check on this site!) The way I see it, is your goal was to have that baby and bring it home - so no matter how that happened, your end result was you got that baby home!
I do understand your feelings though but in the long run the most important thing is having that baby be part of your life - no matter how they entered the world. And - after myself having one "natural" LOBPI, and one by c-section - what I think about is how fortunate I am to have them both home and safe. I think that childbirth is over rated! Painful, scary, bloody,.....LOL The best feeling for me was finally being able to hold my baby - no matter how she came into this world. Just my thoughts- but I do understand yours!
I probably didn't help here but just wanted to post,
Christy

Christ, Guest, I was almost 42 when I delivered vaginally my BPI under trauma. I have three sisters and many friends whose deliveries I witnessed before my own. Their deliveries weren't anyway comparable to my large child delivery. The pain was very very terrible. But in that pain I could feel my child descending; I knew that I was delivering. And when my child got stuck, I knew absolutely that my child was suffering... And when I tried, and tried, and tried again and again .. and when I screamed with fear that I believed that my child was dying until a doctor finally took notice.
In my delivery I was ultimately injured, and my child was ultimately injured with this BPI. But my child was alive. I pissed the hospital off becuase I demanded to hold my BPI child immediately, which I did. I breast feed her; she was very hungry... and so fantastically sweet, just as she is today. On her first night of life, she slept on my chest. And since that day my child has always been very close to me.
Was I denied a normal birthing process? Yes, I not only gave birth but in that process I saved my own and my child's life...

I feel like I missed out. I had labor until I was 8cm dialated then ended up having to have an emergency c-section. I was knocked out cold. When I woke up my husband was holding my daughter and had already named her!!!! *LOL* I guess I feel though as long as I don't miss out on her now I'm not missing out.
