Hi, Just looking on info about shrugging ones shoulder. My son is 14 months and doesnt do that. We were told he is "recovered" by TCH and CHOP .... hes doing great, just have the poor kid under a microscope. Our Doc feels that it would be very rare if this was part of his injury. Anyone?

Hey Wendi

We were told that shoulder shrugging was one of the first things to come back...Katie did it for a little while but the muscles never got a chance to be strong enough before the contractures set in. She does it now but it is choppy on the BPI side. Did you get the clearance on this with TCH?

How's the SI stuff doing? Email me.

Hugs

Christy

Hey Francine,
How did I know that you would respond???? Yep still in therapy - she comes once a month. Called Doc Chang he told me that he was surprised about the shrugging, but wants me to point it out to my therapistand docs. I sent an email to TCH - no response yet. But I talked to a chiropractor at the YMCA today - we are going to go see him on friday - just for a little looksee . I wont see my therapist or doct till the end of Nov - Im not really that concerned. What do we have to lose? They had this free test - wow I dont stand very straight - thats how we got talking about Austin.... so we are both going (its free). I'll call TCH after I see my therapist . Hope your "week" has been good.

Long story on the recovered part, dont want to bring on alot of postings. He is doing great. He can do all the things that "normal" kids can do at his age. We are one of the luckier families. The way we "saw" this was we play this game called "spock" - like Dr Spock from Star Trek - and we give the vulcan (?) grip and tickle each other in the collarbone area- thats how we notice he wasnt reacting "the same" (hysterical laughing) on the left side. Yes, it does move up and down, but just not the same and he doesnt laugh (as much) and stuff.

That microscope I have attached to my head is really getting heavy!

Hi Wendy! I'm back. I've been taking a break from the PC, I do enough of that at work. I haven't noticed if Kendall is shrugging or not. I'll have to check on that and get back with you. She is cruising around furniture like crazy but not walking independtly yet. Also, she can now climb up on the sofa which I don't know if this is good or not. I will e-mail you tonight to find out what is going on! Take care! Sonia
