Has anyone purchased an "arm bike" for their BPI child? My son's PT recommended one, but when I found one online and saw the price tag I was shocked. Can anyone recommend a place where I can find a reasonably-priced bike?

we got ours many years ago thru TELEPHONE PIONEERS - a division of illinois bell i believe ??? they loan them to you for as long as you like. when we were done we passed it on to another family w/ a child w/ a OBPI. they are GREAT exercise! here's some info. i'd call and see what the requirements are now:

My daughter got one when she was 3 but she wasn't able to use it until she was 5. Her arm just wasn't strong enough to push it. Once she could do it, it was great exercise. We donated it to her therapy group when she was too big for it.

Would this work....sold on the internet at Walgreens.

When I wanted one for my Jill, LOBPI age 21, years and years ago.....this didn't exist. I saw it advertised at Walgreens in recent years. Only $45.00.

They have come a long way...

When I was small they use to turn my tricycle upside down place playing cards on it to make noise in the spokes...
I had to peddle.... LOL....
I thought it was fun and never realized it was therapy.

My daughter has a kettler tricycle. AmTryke makes a modification for the bike that you can buy. I am in the process of trying to find out how much the arm moditication costs. You can try www.ambucs.com. My daughter goes to Raleigh Pediatric Therapy in Raleigh, NC, they have a program every year that gives away a certain number of the AmTryke's to kids with injuries, see if your local therapy place has that program.
