My child was in a crib in the SOL splint when she was 2years and had no problems. She slept fine and had plenty of room in the crib, which is smaller than a toddler bed. We got some shirts 2 sizes larger and it worked out great.

My son will actually be having secondary surgery in Boston with Dr. Waters next week. He turned 2 in August.
He is actually already in a big bed, so I'm not too worried about him not having enough room. A bigger bed might be a good idea for your daughter as well if it's feasible.
Will Dr. Waters perform the surgery? You said she will be in the cast for 8 weeks? My son is only going to be in it for 4-1/2. I wonder what the difference is?

our daughters surgery the first time was very extensive, so i dont know if that has anything to do with the length of time in cast. yes dr. waters is doing the surgery. we will keep you in our thoughts and prayers let me know howit goes.

Is she having the tendon transfers?
We will also keep her in our thoughts and prayers, but I know they will both do just fine!

When Ella had this surgery she was put in a Spica cast for 5 weeks. BUT the difference is that Ella also had shoulder work done. I didn't know that they used to SOL cast for that surgery. Since the casts are different, I can't really give you advice on clothing. Just make sure you buy the shirts in larger sizes, for us and our cast it was at least 3 sizes larger than what she was wearing before surgery. I didn't have to cut any clothes, the larger sizes worked just fine. Good luck!
