Waltham MA Children's Hospital....WOW....

We just came back from seeing Dr. Waters after Michael's 1 year post-op. Dr. Waters is thrilled with Michael. He said Michael's shoulder feels fantastic. His range of motion is great. We met Claire his therapist there at Waltham and she was wonderful. She gave me excersizes and stretches focusing mostly on the his elbow. We need to try and stretch out his arm to zero degrees. Of course I asked Dr. Waters about surgery for helping him straighten out his arm and he said no. I tried to explain that Michael can get to zero degrees but only with my help. His arm just doesn't want to stay in that position. He recommended strengthening his tricepts to help pull the arm straight. Wall push ups seem to be the recommendation from Claire along with other things for Michael in front of a mirror. It will help keep the shoulders square and in the right position.
The new hospital is beautiful. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express 2 miles away from the hospital. It was so pleasant. Free parking, free frigerator/freezer already in the room and free Continental Breakfast in the morning before we left for our appointment. Nothing like the hustle of the city where parking is a premium and nothing is free. However, we did cheat a little bit. We had Triple A rates for our room and we had a GPS system in the car. It was too easy:)
Anyway, the appointment went well, we had a great stay at a nice hotel and enjoyed the new hospital as well. Dr. Waters is happy so I am happy.
