Hi Dee It's totally overwhelming sometimes, isn't it?
For what it's worth, I was alarmed when one of my x-rays also showed degenerative disc disease, but my family doc said most people develop it in middle age, so not to worry.
And according to my PT, the back pain I developed was caused by the degeneration of muscles around the shoulder blade, not the discs. I used to love my Wilmer sling, but now when I wear it I get sores where the bones protrude and pain in the middle of my back.
I agree that no amount of money will compensate for the pain, but it will buy some diversions - massage, walks in the woods, or whatever - that will help put some pleasure back in your life.
Peace.
Sandy
