How many out there were told after an EEG that they had avulsions to later see spontaneous recovery in the area that avulsed nerve supplies? In other words the EEG was wrong.

Hi, got a quick question. Is the EEG the same as an EMG?

An EEG is an electroencephalagram and it measures brain waves. Chris must have meant an EMG.

chris -
i've had a similar situation with my emg being wrong, cept the opposite of your experience. the emg showed normal nerve function yet i dont have normal nerve function in terms of clinical examination.

my mum works at a hospital in ny and has been speaking with the head of medicine for awhile about me. he said that emgs are not always accurate or conclusive. so if your emg comes back and you don't feel in your gut that the diagnosis is correct, try another method, go see another doctor.

that's what i am doing.

Thanks gillian. I'm not sure if it's hope, denial or both but I do feel that the test was wrong. Time will tell, Good Luck.
