Hi last night while Eoghan was lying playing on floor he moved his arm in way he's never done before..
It was lying across his chest and I dont know if gravity was involved but he lowered it to the floor above his head and then brought it back to his chest he did this a number of times...what would have been involved in this movement??
Today in crc his new physio who is fantastic said she could see deltoid movement and I think bicep and is going to start electrode therapy in new year
2 questions ...What is this therapy?
Is this the beginning of Eoghan's recovery and does anyone know what to expect as in what does come back without further operations??
Thanks Debbie

This is very exciting , I remember clearly the first time we saw any movement in Richard's arm - it was the beginning of recovery - how the recovery will progress and how much he gets - time will tell - but the key is to know what all the possible things are that you can do to get the maximum recovery - what you should do when and what you shouldn't do . My son is now 13 years old and we have learnt so many new exciting things even in this past year that have given him even further recovery at this late stage in his life - you wouldn't expect there to be more gains at this age but there were things we didn't know about before that we are using now and seeing great results - I just wish we had know these things before - you have the advantage of having so many therapies at your disposal these days and new surgical techniques as well should you need them - one of the most helpful things I ever did for my son was learning about the work Dr.Pape is doing to help our kids. She has seminars to teach us what to look for and what to be doing for our kids - what type of treatments we should make sure we are getting - when and how to do them and what not to do . It's like getting a really good comprehensive plan that will take you to new levels of recovery that otherwise would not be possible - If you are able to go to one of these seminars you would really learn so much to help your child recover - the conferences are listed on her website at www.tascnetwork.net. You asked about e-stim-We have had great success with e- stim but the right type to be used at the right time in the right order will give the maximun recovery. How old is your child? and have you seen a bpi specialist with him - not all pediatric neurologists know as much about treating this as a bpi specialist would - I know mine sure didn't.

Hi thanks for reply we live in Dublin so not sure that kind of informative conferences available here..our country not as progressed in this condition!!
Eoghan has been under the care of Daragh Hynnes a BPI specialist since 12 weeks old he operated on him with Kevin Cronin at 6 months..c5 ruptured c6 & c7 avulsed. he has received excellent physio at CRC here in Dublin and it's his new physio Lynn who's recommended the electrode thing it's just even though I've lived with ERBS 1 year now...eoghan was 1 on nov.25 everything seems so alien still!!
Lynn has 8 years experience and attended the conference in Italy with the surgeons so i'm hoping she's the best woman for the job it's so hard to know what i could be doing to bring along more movement I dangled a ball above his arm today he was lying flat and he reached for it and when i moved ball he followed it it's so exciting but also i'm afraid of getting too excited in case it's nothing??
