Re: Need help changing Ashley's mind!
<t>Hello, thanks for the ideas and thoughts. Ashley is looking forward to her arm having more lift, however, I do not think she is aware of the therapy and length of time the splinting is involved. She has been asking very good questions and she has seen Maia's and Sarah's stories of surgery on Fran...

Need help changing Ashley's mind!
<t>Ashley, 6, is very vain, she worries what other kids think already! Anyway she is going to have a lat transfer in March and will be wearing a cast/splint full time until June! At this point when I ask her, "Ashley, are you going to go to school?" She says nope! So what I am looking for are any su...

We got our Physio Therapist!
<t>I got a phone call today from BCCH, they have talked to the Therapist of my choice and he is very interested in providing Therapy for Ashley when her cast comes off. I am so pleased because he is interested. His wife is a Doctor and I am hoping he shares all that he learns about BPI's with her. <...

Re: Need some light shed.....
<t>I agree with Francine, getting some help for you and your husband would be a positive step. I also have a BP child and she is the oldest. I had similar thoughts to yours with my second pregnancy. Up until 2 weeks before my second daughter was born, my Doc was insistent that he would deliver my ba...

Re: First appointment with pediatrician
<t>Hi Bonnie, I live in Canada too, not in Saskatchawan but in BC. Good luck with your appointment today, I think you are doing the right thing, calling to find a Doc who knows more about BPI. Children can make great strides and it is kind of a waiting game, but it would be good to have a specialist...

About Surgery?
Hello, I have a question about my Daughters upcoming surgery. Do they give them an IV prior to surgery or do they wait until they are asleep from the drugs? Thanks and I look forward to your replies.

Re: Winging
Hi Tracey, my daughter also has a winging shloulder blade and her shoulder is sightly out, about 1/4" of the socket. Her physiotherapist suggested we rest her arm on a pillow as often as possible and when she is sleeping. This seems to help a bit. Good luck.
